Everyone needs to take care of themselves at home and on holidays.
I would like to ask you a question, How could you prevent an attack happening to you? Simply by taking into account a few precautionary measures to keep you safe in your environment
If it was as easy to take care of yourself in your environment we would all be home and dry but it is not! View video clips
For Example:
Walking home alone at night, don’t always organize a lift home if you can.
If for some reason you have to walk home alone let someone know the route you are taking, make sure you take into account your surroundings in your environment, walk down the centre of the sidewalk towards the oncoming traffic in a well lit up area.
If you have to walk home alone roll back on your shoulders, keep looking around and be alert at all times. The reason why you should walk down the centre of a sidewalk is that the centre of the sidewalk becomes your neutral ground, and gives you decisive time to react to any given situation and makes an assailant think twice before he decides to attack you. If you look alert the chances of being attacked are diminished. Shout Stop We’re Fighting Back
Never walk on the edge of the sidewalk!
There are several reasons why you should never walk on the edge of the sidewalk. You could get hit by a car, or a guy could hit you with the door of his car and then abduct you.
Never walk on the inside of the sidewalk!
There are several reasons why you should never walk on the Inside of the sidewalk. A guy or guys could pull you over a wall or behind a bush and mug you.
A Short insight on how to use the Clock Method! To search your surroundings in your environment to prevent an attack happening to you!
Every army in the world uses the clock method? Especially when on maneuvers using the centre of the clock as their base in their environment to prevent an attack and pinpoint the enemy and much more,
I would like you to imagine that you are standing in the centre of the clock, the centre of the clock becomes your base walking down the sidewalk, On the Subway, In your Car, At Home, In a Park, you have 12 o’clock in front of you, 6 behind you, 3 on your right flank and 9 on your left flank. Using the numbers on the clock as reference points to search your surroundings in your environment, horizontally vertically and diagonally to prevent an attack happening to you and to manipulate your opponent or opponents to your advantage in the need arises.
Never walk down the sidewalk with the traffic coming from behind you! Why? because this makes it easy for a guy or guys to sneak up on you to mug or abduct you. If for some reason you have to walk with the traffic coming behind you use the centre of the sidewalk. Street Combat Survival Skills
You need to be constantly looking behind you especially at night; another technique you could use to improve your safety in your environment is your hearing ability to distinguish between different sounds and where they are coming from. Street Combat Survival Skills
There are several ways you can achieve this, is by sitting in your garden and listening to the different sounds of birds and other things around you and try to pinpoint where the sounds are coming from.
Another way you can distinguish between the different sounds is to listen to a Helicopter; it throws out two sounds from the engine an echo which will confuse you and an intense sound. This is the sound you need to focus on, to locate and pinpoint the helicopter.
This technique will improve your hearing ability to distinguish between different sounds such as a guy or guys trying to hide from you behind a bush, a wall, a doorway, or trying to move in on you from behind to mug you. This technique gives you the advantage over your opponent or opponent’s if they try to surprise you, or try to sneak up on you from behind.
I hope this short insight on how to be safe in your environment helps you and gives you confidence on your journey through life.

American Advance Kenpo Karate and Self Defence; the Complete 1st Degree
Brown Belt Syllabus by Grandmaster Maughan.
Grandmaster Maughan has been featured regularly in the pages of ‘Combat’
and his series of well-know DVD’s.
The biggest advantage of the format is the instant accessibility as presented here long-term readers will be aware of the fact that Maughan’ s system is found on the ‘clock’ method and footwork that underpins the American Advanced Kenpo system is the first chapter of this DVD. Maughan himself is the amiable host, talking and demonstrating the brown belt
syllabus is an excellent technique library that will be of interest to any martial artists who wants to increase their skills across the various fighting ranges. Here the most important chapters concern the 24 self defense techniques at the heart of the 1st brown belt grading and the freestyle applications that close the programme. The delivery follows a
tried and tested formula of explanation followed by demonstration, followed by repetition broken down into component parts. These two sections alone will give the viewer plenty of food for thought, but also included are 2
forms a ‘Long form’ and a Sai form both shown in their entirety first and then deconstructed in great detail, accompanied by a flowing commentary from Master Maughan. For students of American Advanced Kenpo Karate this
DVD is obviously an essential purchase, but the disc will also have a wider appeal, one that encompasses the street self defense arena and array of techniques and formidable running time (90mins) will provide real value for
money.
